Mark – Valve Replacement Patient – TotalHeart Commitment to Healing
Ft. Lauderdale professional Mark enjoyed activity and exercise, even though he had a bad heart valve.
“As time went on, the aortic valve didn’t open well at all,” said Memorial cardiologist Dr. Brenda Sanzobrino. “Mark wanted to run in the heat. And if you have a tight aortic valve, you could actually faint. So we had to modify his activity as the valve became tighter.”
When Mark finally needed aortic valve replacement surgery, Dr. Sanzobrino collaborated with cardiac surgeon, Dr. Juan Plate, to help ease Mark’s fears.
“They were great motivational enthusiasts,” Mark said.
Memorial’s TotalCommitment to advanced technology in the TotalHeart Cath Lab meant Dr.
Plate and his team had everything they needed to heal Mark’s heart, no matter what they might find.
“It’s always a good feeling to be able to help somebody and to see them do as well as Mark did,” Dr. Sanzobrino said. “Mark did just beautifully, and now he is back to living a full life.”
