Chevon’s Remarkable Heart Failure Improvement at Memorial
Chevon was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, already had a defibrillator and was getting worse. He was in severe heart failure, and his family feared they would lose him.
Memorial’s heart failure team led by Ioana Dumitru, MD, medical director of adult cardiac transplant, heart failure and cardiomyopathy, and I-wen Wang, MD, cardiac surgeon and chief of adult heart transplant, determined that a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) would stop Chevon’s decline and give him time to get stronger for a heart transplant.
Today, Chevon has made remarkable improvement and eagerly awaits his new heart. Learn more at MHS.net/Heart.
