Elia is Cancer-Free Thanks to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital
Elia, came to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital because she had cancer, a Wilms tumor in her kidney. Her oncologist, Iftikhar Hanif, MD, explains that the tumor was too big and vast to remove. Elia had chemotherapy to shrink the tumor so her surgeon, Jill Whitehouse, MD, could remove it. Elia’s mom says Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital took away that extra layer of worry on their journey to Elia becoming cancer-free.
