Everyday Extraordinary Care Helped Basil Go Beyond His Brain Injury
Basil suffered a traumatic brain injury when a car hit him as he crossed a street.
Paralyzed on his left side, the everyday extraordinary expertise of Memorial Neuroscience Institute enabled Basil to go beyond his limitations at Memorial Rehabilitation Institute.
Neurosurgeon Dean Hertzler, MD, performed a critical surgery to address the swelling of Basil’s brain, and Alan Novick, MD, Medical Director, Memorial Rehabilitation Institute, led his rehabilitation. Basil made a remarkable recovery.
He returned to help other patients as a volunteer, and eventually landed a job with Memorial.
