Home Made Barbecue Sauce (adapted from lifestyle by poliquin)
Ingredients:
¼ Cup Maple Syrup (the real stuff, not “pancake syrup”
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
½ teaspoon chipotle pepper, or to taste (or cayenne) chipotle will give a smokey flavor, cayenne will bring the heat
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Optional addition: 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
¼ cup low-sodium tamari or low sodium soy sauce
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a glass bowl, cover, refrigerate until ready to use.
Best prepared ahead of time so flavors can really blend together.
