“Like Young Frankenstein. I’m Alive.” Comedian Kyle Grooms’ Brain Surgery at Memorial
“It’s actually starting to heal. There’s a scar there. And yeah, Young Frankenstein. I’m alive. I’m alive,” south Florida standup comedian Kyle Grooms jokes about the scar from his surgery to remove his benign brain tumor at Memorial Neuroscience Institute.
After having a seizure, Kyle was rushed to Memorial. With tremors and weakness on his right side, a CAT scan showed a hemorrhage in his brain. Worried that his standup career and quality of life might be in jeopardy, Kyle trusted his Memorial neurosurgeon Clinton Burkett, MD, who told him surgery was the only option.
Dr. Burkett performed a successful left frontal craniotomy to remove the tumor and Kyle made a full recovery. Now, he gratefully jokes about his positive care experience at Memorial and life after brain surgery. Learn more at Memorial Neuroscience Institute at MHS.net/Neuroscience.
