Meet Dr. Alex Constantinescu Pediatric Nephrology Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital
Dr. Alex Constantinescu is the Medical Director of the Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension Program, which guides children and their families through the diagnosis and therapy of various kidney diseases, as well as providing dialysis for children in renal failure, until a transplant is available.
Dr. Constantinescu is board-certified in pediatric nephrology. He is a graduate of the “Victor Babes” University of Medicine in Timisoara, Romania. After completing internships and residencies at hospitals in Romania and New York, he was a fellow in pediatric nephrology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.
Subsequently, he followed an academic career at UMDNJ/ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he became an associate professor of pediatrics and medical director of the pediatric transplant nephrology program until 2003 when he relocated to Florida.
Dr. Constantinescu has published numerous original research papers, as well as review articles in peer-review journals and book chapters. He currently is a clinical associate professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Nova Southeastern University and most recently Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. He remains active in teaching and research, with main focus in the area of clinical nephrology.
