Prom Promise Pines Charter High School
More than 400 Pines Charter High School seniors got a realistic look at the results of combining drinking and driving as well as distracted driving in their own auditorium.
“Prom Promise,” a graphic reenactment of a severe car crash has been designed to help students visualize the effects just days before their Senior Prom.
To make this happen, The Division of Trauma Services at Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital joined forces with the Pines Charter High School administration, Broward County Schools, Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue, Pembroke Pines Police Department, Boyd Panciera Funeral Home and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
Members of the senior class participated in the staged event as students watch from the auditorium seats. Two crashed cars yielded many bloodied and injured victims. When rescue attempts fail, the prom queen was placed in a body bag and escorted off the stage in a funeral home stretcher to the hearse.
